Adam Scott Crowned Champion at Genesis Open 2020
The Genesis Open 2020, hosted at Riviera Country Club just outside of Los Angeles, CA, was this week's stop on the PGA Tour. The tournament boasted a strong field of competitors including 2019 Genesis Open champion J.B. Holmes, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Adam Scott, Hideki Matsuyama, Tiger Woods, Max Homa and more.
Adam Scott played a great tournament and was well deserving of his two-stroke victory. He outlasted Matt Kuchar, Scott Brown and Sung Kang who finished tied for 2nd Place at -9. Scott played his best during the Second Round of the tournament, firing off a tournament low 64 (-7). This put him great position heading into the weekend and boy did it pay off. Scott followed up his great Second Round with a solid 67 (-4) on Saturday.
What impressed me most about Adam Scott this week was his irons. He hit 52 greens, the most out of any player in the field. And although his putting was not outstanding, it was solid through the four rounds. His superb iron play gave his somewhat inconsistent putting a huge relief this week and one of the main reasons he was able to win.
Enough about the Aussie though. What happened to Tiger Woods this week? Well, to put it plain and simple, Tiger Woods just did not perform this week. He made the cut (barely) and ended the tournament in dead last at +11, 22 strokes off the eventual champion Scott.
Overall, the Genesis Open was an exciting tournament and we want to congratulate Adam Scott on his victory. Next week on the PGA Tour is the WGC-Mexico Championship and the Puerto Rico Open. We look forward to another great weekend of golf!
